Directions to 417 Westwood Blvd, Staunton

Here are three ways of getting to the 2010 Thrivent Builds Home site.  There may be other ways, but these three work.  Be very careful to follow these instructions.  If you get off the streets named here, it may be difficult to get back on track.  The streets in this area are very narrow and frequently change names, like every three or four blocks.  It would be easy to get lost if you get off the streets named here.  Additionally, in this part of Staunton, street signs may be attached to utility poles and are usually higher off the ground than a standard street pole.

From VA252 Middlebrook Avenue

·         At the traffic light on VA252 and Bridge St, turn on Bridge St, this is about 1 mile from VA262, bypass of Staunton.

·         Just after going under the railroad bridge on Bridge St, turn left on Stuart St.

·         Continue on Stuart St (passing through six to eight intersections depending on how you count them) to the intersection with Montgomery Ave; turn right onto Montgomery Ave.

·         Go to the next intersection and turn right onto Forest St.

·         Go one block and turn right on Westwood Blvd, Westwood Blvd is very narrow and is difficult to see.

·         417 Westwood Blvd will be the second to last house before Westwood Blvd turns left on Hanger St.  Hanger St. again turns left onto Jersey St.

From VA254, West Beverly Street

  • Turn on Montgomery Ave. opposite the Thornrose Cemetery on West Beverly St.
  • At the fifth intersection (some are full intersections and some are T intersections) turns left on Forest St.
  • Go one block and turn right on Westwood Blvd, Westwood Blvd very narrow.
  • 417 Westwood Blvd will be the second to last house before Westwood Blvd turns left on Hanger St.  Hanger St. again turns left onto Jersey St.

From downtown Staunton

·         West Johnson St is part of US 250 going through downtown Staunton.  West Johnson St goes by the courthouse building after turning left just past the Mill Street restaurant.

·         Continue uphill (very steep) on West Johnson St to Sunbury St.

·         Turn right on Sudbury St, street sign very high on utility pole.

·         Go two blocks and turn left on Westwood Blvd, Westwood Blvd narrows and bears to the left when crossing Forest St.

·         417 Westwood Blvd will be the second to last house before Westwood Blvd turns left on Hanger St.  Hanger St. again turns left onto Jersey St.

It is best to park on Westwood Blvd.  Parking is very limited in this neighborhood.  Car-pooling is encouraged.  The lot addressed 417 on Westwood Blvd also fronts to Jersey St.  The house when finished will be addressed on Jersey.  Walk uphill to the backside of the build site.  Parking on Jersey is even more limited than the parking on Westwood Blvd.
